CEREC technology

CEREC provides "computer-assisted design/computer-assisted manufacture" (CAD-CAM) technology which shortens the dental fillings procedure by having everything done onsite.

The CEREC procedure

• All decayed material is removed
• Using CEREC technology, we photograph the prepared tooth
• That digital information is sent to our on-site milling machine
• Specialized software creates a model for the filling's shape
• Dr. Melnick then refines it using computer-assisted design software
• The result is a perfectly fitted, color-matched filling, created in about 15 minutes
• The filling is bonded to your tooth using a special resin

Often referred to as "inlays" or "onlays", porcelain fillings are not visible. They are seamless, have the same color and the same reflective qualities as the surrounding tooth. Silver amalgam and even composite fillings lack the natural look and durability offered by dental porcelain.
